Taking surveys is one of the most popular ways to earn some money online. And it’s easy to understand why. It is a way to kill some time while pocketing a couple of extra bucks. Let’s take a closer look at Opini surveys to find out is it a good opportunity to make a couple of extra bucks.
What Is Opini and Is It Legit?
Before analyzing how the Opini panel works, we have to check out if it is legit. You don’t want to take chances and waste your time only to be deceived by scammers. Opini is a survey platform owned and operated by Asia Opinions Ltd. It is a market research company based in the UK, but they operate in numerous countries from America to South Asia. With more than 25 years of experience in market research, it is a reputable and recognized company. Furthermore, they collaborate with Cint, one of the largest if not the largest sample exchange platforms, that runs more than 10 survey panels and provides surveys for dozens of independent survey sites. So, there are no legitimacy issues here. Opini is a legitimate panel.
How It Works
Most survey platforms are tailored for US residents, but Opini is available in 14 countries worldwide. So, you can join if you live in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Philippines, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, and South Africa. The registration process is pretty simple and free. You do have to download their app first, though. It is compatible with both IOS and Android operating systems. After that, you need to fill in basic personal and demographic info. There are also several profiling questions that you don’t have to answer right away. However, I would recommend doing it as soon as possible, because these questionnaires help them to match you with surveys that you have a better chance to qualify for.
Upon registration on Opini, you can start looking for available surveys. Or you can just sit and wait for email invitations. You’ll get the invitations for surveys that match your profile, but you can search for more opportunities on your dashboard or in the app. However, you have a better chance to qualify for Opini surveys that you receive via email. Often disqualifications are quite frustrating, not to mention a waste of time. Surveys can take anywhere from two minutes to one hour or even more. The reward depends directly on the length of the survey, but more about it a little bit later. You can expect to get between 1 and 7 surveys a month. So, you won’t be overwhelmed with surveys. This also means that you can’t earn much.
Occasionally, you may get some other offers such as focus groups, phone interviews, or product testing.
Earning Potential and Payments
Everything can be nice and slick, but how much money you can make. That’s why we take surveys in the first place, right? Well, on their site they say that surveys pay ‘typically from $0.50 to $4 or more.’ This is somewhat misleading because I have seen several surveys paying $0.16, $0.20, or $0.40. However, you can access a reward table that shows the ratio between survey length and rewards. For example, two minutes surveys are worth $0.16, 5-minute surveys pay $0.32, and 15-minute surveys are worth $0.88. If I wasn’t clear enough, check out the table below.
To get your rewards, you need to accrue a certain amount of money. It varies a little bit from country to country, but it’s around $12.50. It is not a very high threshold, but considering the relatively low frequency of surveys, it might take a while to reach it. There are three options to choose from to collect your reward. You can choose Amazon gift cards, GCodes, or cash via PayPal. I prefer the PayPal option, but Amazon gift cards are great as well and extra options are always welcomed.
Advantages of Opini
- It is available in 14 countries worldwide. It’s refreshing to see a panel that is available internationally. Most survey panels focus on the US and maybe the UK and Canada. So, thumbs up for this.
- Quick payment. You can receive cash via PayPal within 24 hours which is great. On many sites, you have to wait for a couple of weeks to see the fruits of your labor.
- Variety of tasks. Mostly, you will receive survey invitations, but occasionally you might get lucky and get some other assignments. Even though these tasks are rare, they pay better than surveys, so it’s a nice addition.
Disadvantages of This Panel
- Low amount of surveys. Considering pay rates, up to seven surveys a month is not a lot. It means that you have to be very lucky to earn more than $4 – $5 a month.
- Annoying disqualifications. This depends on your demographics, but the members’ complaints are mostly about often disqualifications when they’re halfway through. It’s a common issue in the industry, but it doesn’t make it any less annoying.
Altogether, Opini Surveys seems to be a decent survey panel. However, they don’t stand out from the crowd in any way. You might have a nice experience here, but if you’re a little bit unlucky you may end up receiving invitations rarely and getting disqualified a lot. It’s impossible to tell how it would turn out, in advance. So, I would recommend looking for some panels that pay better or offer more frequent opportunities. If you want to try your luck with Opini, make sure to combine it with other panels.
