If you’re after some easy money, survey panels are the most obvious choice. Taking surveys is easy, it can be fun, it doesn’t take long and finally, you earn a couple of bucks. It looks so easy that you must consider if there’s a catch. Well, first of all, you can’t earn serious money on survey sites. It won’t pay your rent or buy you a new car. However, earning a couple of dollars for such an easy Shopper’s Voice ‘job’ is worth it. The only problem is to avoid murky sites and choose reliable ones. Shopper’s Voice is a pretty unique survey site. Today, I will show you what they offer and are they worth your time.
What Is It
Shopper’s Voice is a market research company based in Toronto, Canada. Actually, it’s a subsidiary company of ICOM Information & Communications L.P., a reputable research company founded in 2006. For starters, it’s safe to call it legit. So, we can move on and dig deeper to see is it worth signing up.
How to Join
Becoming a panel member is pretty easy. It’s a one-step process, although it takes up to 30 minutes to complete it. You just have to visit their site and click on the ‘TAKE OUR SURVEY’ tab to start the survey. As I said, it is a pretty long survey about your shopping habits and preferences. You will also share your personal info. This is supposed to allow them to tailor offers, coupons, and samples for you.
Once you complete the survey you become a member automatically. Also, it comes with free entry to $1,500 sweepstakes. The panel is available for residents of the US and Canada only.
How It Works
This is where it becomes peculiar. Shopper’s Voice is not a traditional survey site. You will not receive surveys on a daily, weekly or even monthly basis. Actually, you will receive one extensive survey a year and that’s it! And your introductory survey counts for the first year. It is quite puzzling, isn’t it? So, what do you have to do to earn rewards? The answer is simple: you don’t have to do anything! You can just forget about this site and wait to receive email offers. These offers won’t be survey invitations, though.
You will receive coupons, free samples, and maybe occasionally some other tasks provided by their partner research companies. These offers will be based on your survey responses. And that is all. No surveys, no collecting points, no other activities. Unfortunately, there’s no money either.
Basically, you just have to complete one survey per year and wait for your coupons and free samples until the next year. And then, it goes the same way all over again.
Rewards and Issues
Are rewards valuable? That is a logical question when you see that you don’t have to do anything apart from the first survey. Actually, it is hard to tell. One would need to spend at least half a year or more to find out how often you will get coupons or free samples and how valuable they are. Oh, and there’s also a sweepstakes opportunity, but you can’t really count on it, because it’s sweepstakes. There’s only one member to get a prize each month.
However, you will receive a lot of emails from them. Some of them will come with a coupon or offer, while others will be tips for this, tricks for that, or something else but without any reward. Basically, the latter can be considered spam. Also, some users complained that they never got any coupons.
Pros of Shopper’s Voice
Being so unconventional and unusual, it is hard to pass judgments on Shopper’s Voice. But, I’ll give it a try.
- It is as easy as it gets. Apart from one survey a year, you don’t have to do anything. So, membership requires almost no effort and no time. Truth be told, almost no rewards as well.
- Coupons, discounts, and free samples. Every once in a while you might receive a coupon or something else to save a small amount of money while shopping.
- Sweepstakes. I don’t really consider sweepstakes as an advantage of survey panels. Your chances of winning are very small, but it’s still possible.
Cons of Shopper’s Voice
- Modest and rare rewards. You can’t earn money or gift cards. Other than coupons and free samples there are no other rewards. And you probably won’t receive a bunch of these, either
- You can’t do anything. Coupons and samples should be tailored to fit your household, but there’s nothing you can do to boost your chances of getting it. Whether you receive a coupon a month or a year, you can do nothing to change that.
- Too many useless emails. You may receive a lot of useless emails, to put it mildly. There’s nothing illegal about it, but no one likes to receive lots of spam-like emails.
Shopper’s Voice is an atypical survey panel. I am not even sure that I should call it a survey panel, because there’s only one survey a year. Being so different makes it somewhat controversial. I read many opinions calling them a scam. But, I strongly disagree. Shopper’s Voice is not a scam but a legitimate website. They deliver what they promise even though they don’t promise much. So, it’s legit, but not a great opportunity to earn.
Actually, you can’t earn money on this site. You will only earn coupons and free samples. On the other hand, you will have one survey a year, and your effort stops there. So, it’s pretty much minuscule effort for minuscule rewards.
If you are looking for sites to earn some extra bucks, this is not the one for you. But, if you love shopping and using any help in the form of discounts or free samples, maybe this is a good site for you. There’s also an issue with email messages, so be careful. In my three days trial, I didn’t receive any, but it was too short to draw any kind of conclusion.
