girl listening and reviewing music

Wouldn’t it be great to make some money online without serious effort? You probably think that I am referring to paid survey sites. After all, taking surveys is one of the easiest ways to make some extra money. And you can do it from the comfort of your home. It can even be fun. However, over time, it can become boring to take more or less similar surveys over and over again. And you have to take a lot of these to make money that counts. Well, there are more options out there. Get paid to sites offer you a variety of easy tasks to get some money. And then, there are specific sites such as Slicethepie. This site offers you money for writing short reviews on songs, commercials, fashion items, and accessories before they hit the market.

The internet never stops facilitating new ways to make money or just have fun. I have to admit, the idea of listening to new music and reviewing it for money is appealing. So, let’s dive in and find out if Slicethepie would really allow you to get a piece of the pie.

Slicethepie Ltd was founded in 2007. It started out as a music review engine. The Slicethepie company grew rapidly and in 2015 they included fashion, accessories and other reviews. They regularly collaborate with most of the major US record labels and thousands of independent artists or so they claim on their website. They have offices in Reading, UK, and Connecticut, New York. How Slicethepie Works

Signing up to Slicethepie is a breeze. Unlike survey sites, you won’t have to fill in extensive personal questionnaires. You will only need to answer a couple of questions. You can access the platform using your desktop or your smartphone. They have both iTunes and Android apps, so it’s pretty convenient and available. You only need to be over 13. As soon as you register you will be asked to choose the category to review. There are four categories to choose from: music, commercials, homeware, and Lucky dip (random types of reviews).

Even though they have various offers, this site is mainly about music. If you choose music reviews, you will have to listen to at least 90 seconds of the track before writing a review. There are several ways to do it. Beside regular writing, you may be asked to rate the song on a scale from 0 to 10. Rating certain qualities of the song, such as being funky, melodic, thrilling, sweet is another way to review it. Once again, you should rate how much these attributes describe the song, from 0 to 10.

It is similar if you choose other categories. You will receive a photo or video with information and then you’ll either rate it out of 10 or answer a couple of questions.

So far, so good. There’s no doubt that the concept is very appealing. Basically, your task is to be a sort of music critic, listen to new tracks, judge them and get paid for it! And they claim that they pay for every submitted review. By now, you must be wondering is there a catch? Well, not really, but eventually, it all comes down to money. So, let’s talk about money.

How Much Can You Earn on Slice The Pie?

The site claims that payments can vary from 1 to 50 cents. This is maybe true, but I couldn’t find anyone making more than 9 cents per review. However, we shouldn’t use extremes to assess payouts. In my extensive research, I found out that the vast majority of reviews pay between 1 and 5 cents. Slicethepie rates your reviews and the better your review the more money you’ll get. However, in reality, the algorithm judges your reviews, and it’s extremely rare to find reviewers that make more than 5 cents per review. While listening to music is fun, the usual earnings of up to 5 cents are meager.

There’s also a payment threshold of $10. It’s not too high, but when you look at the pay rate, it might take a while to reach it. However, once you accrue $10 you can request a payment via PayPal. There are no gift cards or any other ways, which is fine. Paypal is the fastest and best payout method.

It is also worth mentioning that you will have almost as many reviews as you wish. New items are uploaded every day, so you won’t have a lack of opportunities here.

  •  It is interesting. Listening to music is much more fun than filling surveys. And then, there are other categories to choose from. The responsive app makes it convenient as well.
  • A large number of available reviews. There are many decent sites out there that pay very well but offer very few opportunities. You won’t worry about it on Slicethepie. Your demographics don’t play a part and you can get a new review assignment almost always. If they only paid better, it would be a very lucrative site.
  • Simple and efficient payment. There are no gift cards, obscure vouchers or sweepstakes. Cash payments via PayPal are the only option to withdraw your money. Clean and simple.
  • Referral program. You can invite as many friends as you wish. If they join the site through your referral code or link, you will receive bonus payments for every review your friends leave for a year from the sign-up date.

  • They pay peanuts. Earning 1 to 5 cents per review is really low. Actually, it can’t get lower than that. They do promise that you can improve your pay rates, but reaching higher levels seems to be mission impossible for most users.
  • Running out of attributes. In order to improve your Star Rating and consequently earn more money, you are supposed to write high-quality, original reviews on Slice The Pie. However, there are only so many descriptive words one can use. So, you’ll either start to write repetitive reviews and your Star Rating will decrease or you can try to write elaborate essays to maintain or improve your level. Either way, it’s not worth it.
  • Your account can be terminated too easy. With so many reviewers and reviews, the site is run by algorithms, not people. In order to prevent copy-paste or other dishonest reviews, these programs would often flag honest users and terminate their accounts. While I understand that it is difficult to create perfect check-out programs, it is just not fair.

Conclusion About Slice The Pie

I have to say I love the concept. It promises a lot of fun and doesn’t require too much effort. There’s only one problem but it’s the major one – measly rewards. When the pie is sliced, your slice is hardly visible. So, regardless of how cool it looks, if you want to earn some money, look somewhere else. Surveys can be boring, but at least you can earn something. Even with these reviews, you’ll eventually have a problem to avoid repetitive and similar words and sentences.

On the bright side, you can enjoy listening to new tracks or watching new commercials on Slicethepie. So, if you are just seeking for the pleasure of listening to new music and enjoy rating it, you might have a great time on the Slicethepie site.
